Cultivator hosts Lucent Bioscience $19 million announcement
Cultivator hosted a special announcement between Protein Industries Canada (PIC), AGT Food and Ingredients Inc. (AGT Foods), Lucent BioSciences (Lucent, an Agtech Accelerator cohort 1 company), NuWave Research, IN10T, and Aberhart Ag Solutions. The collaborative $19 million project will help Canadian farmers further improve their substantiality and reduce carbon emissions through the commercialization of a new micronutrient fertilizer — which includes the installation of a new manufacturing process for the production of Soileos in Rosetown, Saskatchewan.
With special guests and honorable members of parliament in attendance, the morning was spent celebrating the project as it reaffirms the sector’s commitment to reducing environmental impacts and delivering healthy food to Canadians.

Lucent BioSciences is currently a cohort 1 company in Cultivator’s Agtech Accelerator. The company has developed a zero-waste manufacturing process that binds nutrients to cellulose. This new material ‘soileos’ has unique properties and characteristics that prevent run-off or tie-up, and improve yields, plant health, and crop quality. You can see Lucent’s pitch LIVE during Demo Day at Canada’s Farm Show on Wednesday, June 22, 2022!
